LifeConnection Christmas Project

By admin | December 17, 2007

Every penny of every dime of every dollar given away.

That’s what we did yesterday, how friggin’ awesome!

All the totals aren’t in yet but as of right now over $2,500 has been given for the LifeConnection Christmas Project.  And I think that when everything comes in we’ll be somewhere around $3,000.  This is so amazing.  Thanks to everyone who gave!

The LifeConnection Christmas Project was a partnership with the Independence School District’s Caring Communities Program.

How did we partner?

First off we adopted 3 very deserving families this Christmas.  We purchased gifts and necessities for everyone in the family off their gift lists.  Our goal was to go above and beyond in our gift giving, and I think we accomplished that feat!

Second, everything given above and beyond purchasing all these gifts is heading to the School District’s Utility Assistance Program.  It’s a dreadful thought that someone would have to choose between food and heat but it happens every winter.   As of now we should be giving $1,000 - $1,500 to the Utility Assistance Program.

Jesus doesn’t want your money.  Jesus wants your allegiance.  And as a church we want to make generosity more than a word in a pithy slogan.

As we strive to become a blessing in our city hopefully in some small way we took steps toward that reality this weekend.

How has God been moving you toward generosity this Christmas season?
