MLK Serve Day @ Blue River

By Carson

Next Monday (January 18th) is Martin Luther King Jr. Day (MLK Day). To celebrate, Blue River Community College is canceling classes and partnering with Meals On Wheels and Hillcrest Ministries to serve the community of Independence. The MCCKC campuses all over the K.C. metro area will be participating with various organizations to serve their communities.

LifeConnection On Campus will be participating in this event. We will be trying to get as many students from our campus ministry involved because Jesus came not to be served, but to serve others. We want to lead in serving and getting other students involved in serving because the gospel would lead us to. It’s also a great opportunity to spend time building new relationships with students and faculty.

In a recent conversation with the campus life coordinator at Blue River, we were told that anyone and everyone can participate in the MLK Day of Service. In keeping with LifeConnection’s commitment to mission and service in our community, this is a great opportunity to serve the community of Independence and reach out to college students just down the road. Would you have the desire and time to participate?
