From the earliest part of the story, God’s plan has been to bless his people not for themselves but so they can become a blessing to others. As we like to say, the movement of Jesus is not about me. The movement of Jesus is about those who have yet to discover him.

Our goal is not to nurture a group of passive observers who aimlessly consume spiritual goods and services. No, we recognize that to become fully engaged in the mission of God in our world we must join him in service.

What is Pleasant Garden all about?

• An opportunity to supplement nutritional needs through community based, individually managed garden plots (4′x7′ raised garden beds).
• An economically practical gardening option through association with the City of Independence Health Department and the KC Community Gardents.
• A rewarding opportunity for families or individuals of all ages who can grow in their gardening knowledge and their sense of community.
• An awesome opportunity to meet new people and get to know the neighbors.

What does it take to become a gardener?

• A willingness to assume total responsibility for a garden plot which includes soil preparation, planting, watering, weeding, harvesting and fall clean-up.  Free access to water is provided on site.
• Adherence to garden rules.
• Completion of a simple gardener application.
• Payment of a $15.00 annual membership fee which includes membership in the Kansas City Community Gardens organization and access to deeply discounted seeds and bedding plants.
