The Self-Substitution of God
Scripture: Romans 15:4, Romans 5:1-11, Psalm 100
The fundamental human struggle stems from our separation from God due to sin, manifesting as feelings of guilt and shame. Humanity’s core problem is our tendency to live independently from God, making us His enemies. God’s solution was substitution – while we substitute ourselves for God through sin, He substituted Himself for us through Christ’s death. Through this sacrificial act, we receive justification, reconciliation, and forgiveness, demonstrating God’s immense love for humanity even while we were His enemies.
