The Mission of God + Rebellion
The Mission of God + Rebellion
Scripture: Genesis 3:1-21, Genesis 2:25, Psalm 100
Genesis 3 reveals that sin is fundamentally about substituting ourselves for God, which creates alienation in three key areas: spiritually from God, personally within ourselves, and socially from others. When Adam and Eve disobeyed, they immediately hid from God’s presence, experienced shame, and began blaming each other. Sin affects every aspect of human existence, reversing the good realities of creation and bringing pain, domination, and frustration. However, God responds with gentle grace, providing better covering for our shame and promising a rescuer. Through Jesus Christ, God offers restoration from the alienation sin creates, bringing us back into friendship with Him and healing our deepest wounds.
