Scripture: Matthew 5:27-30

Jesus’ teaching on adultery and lust reveals that God’s law was always intended to transform our hearts, not just regulate behavior. While culture treats sex as mere appetite and some religious approaches view it as defiling, Jesus points to a better way. Sexual union involves the whole person and creates deep connections, which is why treating it casually leaves so much brokenness. Lustful intent isn’t simply strong desire, but an over-desire that becomes idolatrous. Jesus calls for radical steps to address disordered hearts – removing sources of temptation and seeking transformation through community. True healing comes not through cultural permissiveness or religious rule-following, but through bringing our brokenness to Jesus, who offers forgiveness and heart transformation.
