How can I believe in a good God with so much evil and suffering in our world?
Scripture: John 11:17-37
In a world filled with suffering, we often question how a good God could allow such pain. The answer lies in understanding our place in God’s story—between Eden’s perfection and heaven’s restoration. God created humans with free will, which allows for both love and the possibility of evil. Jesus responds differently to our intellectual questions and emotional pain, as shown in His interactions with Martha and Mary after Lazarus died. Most importantly, Jesus doesn’t just sympathize with our suffering—He overcomes it through His death and resurrection, offering us hope beyond our present circumstances and community to support us through life’s darkest moments.
