Our Ascended King and Priest

August 16, 2026

Series: Nicene Creed

Book: Psalm

Scripture: Psalm 110

Most Christians are familiar with the birth, death, and resurrection of Jesus, but the Ascension is often overlooked. Psalm 110, the most quoted Old Testament passage in the New Testament, reveals that Jesus is not absent or inactive. He is seated at the Father’s right hand as both King and Priest, actively ruling and interceding for His people. As King, He sends His church out into the world to proclaim the gospel and make disciples. As Priest, He continually intercedes for believers so that their faith will not fail. We are secure not because we hold tightly to Jesus, but because He holds tightly to us. The same King who commissions us is the Priest who keeps us.
