Scripture: John 1:1-18

 

John 1 presents one of the most profound descriptions of Jesus found anywhere in Scripture. He is the eternal Word of God who took on human flesh, fully God and fully man at the same time. He is not a created being but the uncreated Son, of one substance with the Father, who perfectly reveals what God is like. He lived the sinless life we could not live, died the death we deserved, and rose from the grave conquering death. There are only two responses to Jesus: reject Him or receive Him by faith. To receive Him is to turn from sin, trust in His finished work, and be given the right to become a child of God. For those who already follow Him, the call is clear: point others to the real Christ, just as John the Baptist did.
