The Identity of Jesus
The Identity of Jesus
Scripture: Matthew 8:23-34
Life can change in an instant, and when it does, the most important question we can ask is whether Jesus can be trusted in the storm. The disciples were exactly where Jesus wanted them, following Him faithfully, and yet they sailed straight into a violent, seismic storm. Jesus did not lead them around it. He led them through it, and when He spoke, the wind and the waves obeyed. His authority over creation, over demons, and over fear is a direct display of His identity as the Son of God. Correction from Jesus is not rejection. He rebuked the disciples for their little faith and then calmed the storm anyway, because it is not the size of your faith that moves God to act, it is the object of your faith. If your faith feels fragile right now, take heart. Jesus is strong enough to handle what you cannot.
