Scripture: Matthew 9:1-8

In Matthew 9:1-8, Jesus heals a paralyzed man, but He addresses the man’s spiritual need before his physical one. This reveals a truth that cuts against our instincts: what we think we need most and what we actually need most are often very different things. Every person shares one primary need beneath all others, and that is forgiveness of sin. The friends who carried the paralyzed man to Jesus model what faithful friendship looks like. Their faith was contagious, and their willingness to act changed everything for someone who could not get there on his own. You do not need to be a trained theologian to bring someone to Jesus. You just need to be willing.
