We Are United and Justified Because of Christ
Paul’s confrontation with Peter in Galatians 2:11-21 addresses our struggle with trying to earn God’s favor through religious performance rather than resting in Christ’s finished work. Justification—being declared righteous before God—comes through faith in Jesus, not through following the law. When we place our faith in Christ, we are united with Him in His death and resurrection; our old self dies and Christ lives in us. Despite knowing this truth, we often revert to law-based thinking, trying to earn God’s approval through our actions rather than embracing the grace freely given through Christ’s sacrifice.
